Insurance Associate Agent

Lewis to King County

Job Overview

This position is the on-ramp to running your own Farmers Insurance agency. As an Associate Agent, you'll work alongside our District Team, learning the business from the inside: how to write Property, Casualty, and Life policies, how to build a client base from zero, how to read a P&L, and how to operate an agency profitably. The end goal is for you to spin up your own agency within 12–24 months, with the licensing, training, and book-of-business momentum to make it sustainable.

If you've ever wanted to own a small business but didn't want to start one cold, this is the path: real income while you learn, real mentorship, and a clear runway to ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Quote, write, and service Personal and Commercial Lines policies (auto, home, life, umbrella, etc) for new clients
  • Build your own pipeline through prospecting, networking, referrals, and community presence
  • Learn underwriting fundamentals: what risks Farmers accepts, how to structure a policy, when to escalate
  • Conduct policy reviews with prospective clients to identify coverage gaps and cross-sell opportunities
  • Manage a CRM-tracked book of business and meet weekly/monthly production targets
  • Shadow the District Staff on agency reviews, recruiting interviews, and business-planning sessions
  • Complete Farmers University courses and earn the certifications required to launch your own agency
  • Participate in local community events that build the Farmers Insurance brand presence

Requirements

Required:

  • Coachable, self-directed, and comfortable with phone outreach and face-to-face prospecting
  • Already possess a Property & Casualty License
  • Clean background and credit check (state-required for licensing)
  • Reliable transportation
  • A genuine interest in starting your own business and owning your own agency

Preferred:

  • Already possess both Property & Casualty and Life / Health Licenses
  • A professional network in the local community
  • A background in sales
